We’ve been here at Kashmere Gate for a good while now, right in the middle of Nehru Motor Market on Himaction Road. It’s a busy spot, 2616/18 to be exact. Most days start early with the shutters going up and the smell of engine oil already in the air. People come in looking for specific parts for their cars or just wanting to get something fixed. It’s loud out there with all the traffic and the other shops nearby, but we’re used to it. We mostly deal with the day-to-day stuff that keeps vehicles moving. Sometimes it’s a simple fix, other times we’re hunting through boxes for a rare part someone needs. The shop isn’t fancy or anything, just a practical place where we work. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, and we see the same faces coming back when their cars give them trouble. It’s just how it is in this part of town. You get your hands dirty, you talk to the customers, and you try to get things sorted before the sun goes down. There’s always plenty to do, and the phone rings more than we’d like, but it keeps us busy. We don’t spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty. It’s an auto shop, after all. We just focus on the work right in front of us and hope the traffic isn’t too bad when it’s time to head home.
