At Kashmere Gate, things are always moving fast. Empire Auto Sales is on Lothian Road at 2789/4. Our shop is full of the smell of new tires and engine oil. We have rows of shelves that hold all kinds of auto parts. It’s a busy spot. Mechanics come in with grease on their hands, looking for a specific bolt or a gasket. We spend a lot of time looking through catalogs to match the right part to the right car model. It can be a bit confusing sometimes because there are so many different versions of everything. The floor is concrete and has some stains that won't ever come out. We don't have a fancy office. Just a counter where we take the money and hand over the parts. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the road outside and there's a lot of shouting. It’s just how Lothian Road is. We’ve been here long enough to know most of the regulars by their first names. We don't do any big advertising. People just know we are here at 2789/4. Sometimes we have to tell someone that a part isn't available and they'll have to wait a week. It’s not what they want to hear, but that’s the reality of the supply chain. We just keep the shop open and keep the inventory moving as best as we can. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day.
