Singh Trading Co.

Singh Trading Co. is located at Number 2022 in Katra Lachhu Singh, right near the Fountain in Chandni Chowk. It’s one of those old-school spots where the history is practically built into the walls. The lanes are narrow, and you’ve got to be careful not to get knocked over by a rickshaw on your way in. Inside the shop, it’s mostly shelves packed with all sorts of things we trade. We’ve been in this building for a long time, and it shows. The wooden counters are worn down and the floorboards creak a bit when you walk. We spend a lot of our time talking to people who come in looking for items they can’t find anywhere else. Chandni Chowk has a specific rhythm to it, and we are just one small part of that. It’s very loud outside with all the vendors and tourists, but inside it’s a bit more manageable. We drink a lot of tea throughout the day, usually ordered from the stall just around the corner. Sorting through the stock is a never-ending job because new things are always arriving in crates and bags. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing department. We just open the shop, greet the neighbors, and get to work. It’s a traditional way of doing things, but it’s what we know and how we’ve always operated.
