If you walk through Shyam Nath Market in Chawri Bazar, you will find us at 3639/D. S K Metal Industries has been operating out of this narrow lane for quite some time now. Chawri Bazar is always packed, and our shop is no different. We deal in all sorts of metal parts and industrial components. It’s the kind of place where you have to watch your step because there are piles of stock everywhere. We don’t have much in the way of air conditioning, so the big pedestal fans are always blowing. Most of our customers are people we’ve known for a decade or more. They come in for a chat and a cup of chai while we pull their order together. The building is old, with high ceilings and walls that could probably use a new coat of paint, but it serves its purpose. We spend a lot of our time checking inventory and making sure we haven't run out of the common sizes. It can be a bit overwhelming with the noise of the market outside—the rickshaw pullers shouting and the bells ringing—but we find it hard to imagine working anywhere else. It’s a busy, cramped, and honest way to spend the day. We just focus on the metals and getting the counts right for whoever is buying that day. There’s no secret to it, just showing up and doing the work.
