Rattan Electronics

Rattan Electronics is over at Shop No 317 in Kesri Chowk. It’s right in the middle of Old Lajpat Rai Market, which is always a bit of a mess with people and carts everywhere. We’ve been in this tiny shop for years. It’s a tight squeeze once you get a few people inside. We mainly deal with electronic goods and parts that people need for their homes or small businesses. The walls are covered in bins and hooks for all the different cables and connectors. Kesri Chowk is a landmark that everyone around here knows. It gets really hot in the summer, so we usually have a fan going that makes a lot of noise. We don't have a big corporate office or a boardroom, just a stool and a counter. Most of our day is spent talking to regulars who come by for a specific transistor or a bulb. It’s a bit chaotic, but it’s how we’ve always done things. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit mixed up, so we have to spend the evening sorting it back out. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so we take turns being at the shop. We like being in the market because you see everything. It's just a regular electronics shop doing its thing. We've thought about moving to a bigger spot, but we like being right here where all the action is every single afternoon.
