Old Lajpat Rai Market is a crowded place, and we are tucked right in at number 795. It’s a struggle sometimes just to get the stock inside the door because the lanes are so narrow. We’ve been dealing with industrial parts for a long time. The walls are lined with boxes from the floor to the ceiling, and honestly, only a couple of us really know where everything is kept. It’s a bit of a maze in here. We spend a lot of our time answering the phone and writing down orders on yellow pads. It’s dusty work, and your hands get dirty pretty fast handling all the metal bits. We don't have a big sign outside, just a small board that’s been there forever. Most people who come here are regulars who have been buying from us since my father ran the place. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just a warehouse style setup where we get things done. Sometimes we have tea with the shopkeeper next door when things quiet down in the afternoon. The market has changed a lot over the years, but our little spot feels pretty much the same as it always did. We just keep our heads down and make sure the orders get packed correctly. It’s a simple business without any frills. We just open up and stay until the work is finished.
