Ram Niwas & Sons

Moti Bazar is one of those old parts of Chandni Chowk where the lanes are narrow and the history is thick. Ram Niwas & Sons is up on the first floor of number 117. My grandfather opened this place a long time ago and not much has changed since then. The wooden floorboards creak a little when you walk on them. We sell a variety of traditional items that you can't really find in the modern malls anymore. It is a quiet space compared to the street below. We usually have the radio playing softly in the background while we work. The ceiling is high and has some old fans that have been painted over a few times. We have a small balcony overlooking the street where we can see the chaos of the market without being in the middle of it. The stairs are narrow and a bit steep, so we tell everyone to watch their step. There are shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling filled with boxes that have been there for years. We know exactly where everything is even if it looks like a mess to someone else. It takes a bit of effort to find our door but our regular customers don't mind the climb. We spend our mornings dusting the stock and our afternoons talking to the people who stop by. We aren't looking to move to a bigger place. This shop is part of our family identity and we like it right here.
