About Mosaic Art House – Art & Craft in North Delhi
We operate out of a space at No. 51 Qutub Road. It’s a place filled with small pieces of stone, glass, and ceramic tiles everywhere you look. If you walk in, you’ll probably see someone sorting through bins of different colors or sketching out a pattern on a dusty table. The air usually smells a bit like grout and old stone. It’s not a sterile gallery or a fancy shop; it’s more of a workshop where we actually make things with our hands. We spend a lot of time cutting small pieces to fit into bigger pictures. Sometimes your fingers get a bit sore from all the nipping and placing, but that’s just part of the job. Qutub Road is always moving, but inside here, things happen a bit more slowly because you can't rush a mosaic. You have to be patient with the glue and the spacing. We’ve got stacks of finished pieces leaning against the walls and plenty more that are only halfway done. People stop by to see what we're working on or to pick up something they asked us to make. It’s a bit disorganized at times, with sketches pinned to the walls and leftover materials in the corners, but we know where everything is. We just like working with these materials and seeing how a bunch of tiny fragments can eventually turn into something solid and interesting. It's a simple life at the art house, focused on the craft and the material.
