Punjab Shoe Company

If you walk around the Community Centre in Ashok Vihar, you’ll find Punjab Shoe Company at number 23. We’re right near the Central Market, so it gets pretty hectic on the weekends. This shop has been in the family for a long time. We sell all kinds of footwear, mostly practical stuff that people need for daily life. You’ll find rows of sandals, leather shoes, and school shoes for the kids. The shelves are packed high, and sometimes it feels a bit cramped, but that’s just how we’ve always done it. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us and a couple of helpers who know where every single box is kept. People come here because they know they can get a fair price and shoes that actually last. We spend a lot of time helping people find the right fit, which isn't always easy when you have kids running around the shop. The floor is a bit worn out from all the walking, and the lighting could probably be better, but it feels like home to us. We’ve seen generations of families from Ashok Vihar come in. First the parents, then their children, and now even their grandkids. It’s a simple business. We open early, sweep the front, and wait for the first customer to walk in. It’s just how things go at a local shoe shop where we care more about the people than the decor.
