Muhammad Rafiq Bartan

We are located in Bartan Bazar, right on the Main Road. Our shop, Muhammad Rafiq Bartan, is very close to the Jama Masjid, which is a huge help for people looking for us. Being in a place called Bartan Bazar means there are pots and pans everywhere you look. The sound of metal hitting metal is constant throughout the day. It’s a very traditional market feel here. We have everything from small spoons to giant cooking pots piled up. Sometimes the stacks get so high we worry they might tip over. The Main Road is always full of rickshaws and people shopping for their kitchens. It gets very hot in the summer, and we usually have a small fan going that doesn't do much. We don't have a computer or anything fancy; we just use a ledger and our memory. People come in from all over to find specific kitchen items. We’ve known the other shopkeepers in the bazaar for years. It’s a community where everyone knows what everyone else is doing. Our shop is just a part of that long line of stalls. We keep things simple and focus on what we have in stock. It’s a noisy, busy, and honest way to spend the day. When the call to prayer comes from Jama Masjid, the whole bazar feels a little different for a moment. We’ve spent most of our lives here on the Main Road, and the shop is like a second home. The pots are piled so high that you have to be careful where you walk.
