M.U. Metal Works Pvt Ltd is located down in Hauz Qazi at number 362. If you know Delhi, you know Hauz Qazi is one of the oldest and most cramped parts of the city. The lanes are very narrow and there are people and rickshaws everywhere. Our building has been here for ages and it feels like it too. We do a lot of metal work, mostly things that require heavy machines and a lot of patience. The noise in the market is constant, you can hear hammers hitting metal from every direction. Inside our place, it’s a bit dark and smells like old iron and grease. We have some old machines that still work better than the new ones we tried. It is a family-run kind of thing, even though we are a private limited company on paper. Most of the guys working here have been with us for ten or twenty years. We don't have a website or any of that new stuff, we just deal with the people who come to the door or call us on the landline. It’s a tough place to work because of the heat and the crowds, but it’s where all the metal trade happens. We spend our days checking orders and making sure the metal pieces are cut to the right weight. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and the air is always thick with the smell of the city, but we are used to it by now.
