Laxmi Kitchen

Laxmi Kitchen is tucked away in the Central Market of Ashok Vihar, at number 17. It’s a busy corner, especially in the late evenings when everyone comes out to shop and eat. We do a lot of typical kitchen stuff, mostly food that people like to grab quickly while they are out. The space is pretty tight, and the stove is almost always going, so it gets quite hot inside the shop. We don't have much in the way of fancy seating, just a couple of spots where you can stand or sit for a minute. The market noise is always there in the background. We start early in the morning to get things prepped before the other shops even open their shutters. Sometimes we run out of certain items if the crowd is bigger than we expected on a weekend. We use a lot of ingredients that we get from the market itself. It’s a simple operation. My brother handles the billing while I look after the cooking and making sure we have enough supplies. We have some regulars who have been coming for years, so we know exactly what they want without them even saying a word. The menu isn’t very long, just the things we know how to make well. It’s not a high-end restaurant, just a place to get something to eat in Ashok Vihar. The floors get a bit messy during the lunch rush, but we sweep up when it quietens down.
