If you’ve ever been down the narrow lanes of Chawri Bazar, you know how packed it gets. Laxmi & Co is tucked away at Chatta Shahji 2368/1. It’s an old building and the stairs are a bit steep and uneven. My family has been in this area for generations. We mostly deal with paper and traditional stationery, though the business has changed quite a bit since my grandfather’s time. The walls are lined with stacks of ledgers and heavy reams of paper. It’s always crowded outside with handcarts and people rushing by, so it gets quite noisy. I usually sit at a small wooden desk near the entrance to keep an eye on things. We don't have air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that hum all day. It’s a lot of manual work, moving boxes around and keeping track of orders in a big notebook. Sometimes the deliveries get delayed because the trucks can't get through the narrow streets until late at night. That’s just life in this part of Delhi. We aren't a big corporation with fancy logos. We’re just a local business trying to keep things moving. Most of our customers have been coming to us for twenty years or more. It’s about the relationships we’ve built over tea and long chats about the market prices. We might be hard to find in the maze, but we are always here doing what we do best every day.
