Janta Bartan Bhandar

Down here in the basement of C- 56/2 in Wazirpur Industrial Area, it gets pretty busy most mornings. Janta Bartan Bhandar isn't a fancy place, just a workspace filled with stacks of stainless steel and different types of kitchen items. We spend a lot of time moving things around to make room for new stock that comes in from the factories nearby. The air always has that metallic smell, and you can hear the machines running in the buildings next door all day long. Sometimes the light down here isn't the best, but we know where everything is kept. People usually find us by looking for the small sign near the stairs. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting boxes and checking the inventory on the shelves. We’ve been in this part of Wazirpur for a while now. The floors are concrete and a bit worn out from all the crates being dragged across them. When the tea man comes around at eleven, we usually take a quick break near the entrance to get some fresh air from the street. It’s just how things go here. Most of the day is spent answering the phone or writing out lists of what needs to go out by evening. There’s no big office or soft chairs, just the work and the metal. We just keep things moving and try to stay organized in the middle of all the chaos of the industrial area.
