Grand Plaza

Model Town II is a busy neighborhood, and we sit right at B 1. Grand Plaza is a solid building, though it’s seen better days if you look closely at the corners. We spend a lot of time managing the hallways and making sure the lights are working. It’s a big space to keep track of. The front desk is made of dark wood and has a lot of scratches from people’s keys and bags. We have a small staff, just a few of us who handle everything from the cleaning to the paperwork. The street outside is usually lined with parked cars, and sometimes it’s a headache to get deliveries through. We have a routine that doesn't change much. In the mornings, we check all the rooms and the common areas. The curtains in the main hall are heavy and a bit dusty, but they block out the sun when it gets too hot in the afternoon. We don't have any fancy marketing people telling us what to say. We just tell people where the rooms are and how to find the water. Sometimes the plumbing acts up in the back, and we have to call the guy from down the street to fix it. It’s an old-fashioned way of running things, but it’s how we’ve always done it. We’re just here every day, making sure the building stays standing.
