Goel Steel

Goel Steel is right at No. A- 25 in the Wazirpur Industrial area. If you’ve ever been down this way, you know it’s a lot of trucks and heavy machinery moving around all day. The air is always a bit dusty and the noise of metal clanging is pretty much the background music of our lives. Our unit, A-25, is a large space with high ceilings and heavy iron doors that groan when you open them. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. There is just a small corner partitioned off where we keep the computer and the files. The floor is concrete and usually has some scuff marks from moving things around. It’s a hot place in the summer, so we have these big fans that blow air around, though they are quite loud. Most of the people working here have been around for years. We know the other business owners on the street, and we often share a quick word while the trucks are loading. It isn't the kind of place where you wear a suit. We are usually covered in a bit of grit by the end of the shift. It’s a hard-working part of town and we fit right in. We just focus on getting the orders out and keeping the inventory straight. Sometimes the rain hits the metal roof so hard we can't hear ourselves talk.
