Bihari Bartan

Bihari Bartan is tucked away in Model Town at D 2/13. It is a residential area, but we have our shop right there where people can find us easily. We sell all kinds of kitchen stuff, mostly stainless steel and brass items that people use every day. If you walk inside, you will see stacks of plates and pots almost reaching the ceiling. It can be a bit overwhelming if you are looking for something specific, but I usually know exactly which pile it is in. We have been here for years, and many of the families in Model Town have bought their kitchen sets from us when they moved in. Sometimes people bring back old items to see if we can polish them or fix a handle. It is a quiet kind of business for the most part, except during the wedding season or festivals when everyone wants new utensils. I spend a lot of my time just wiping down the brass so it stays shiny. The shop isn't very big, so we have to use every inch of space we have. Sometimes I have to move five boxes just to reach one tiffin carrier at the back. It is just me and a couple of helpers most days. We like being in Model Town because it is a nice, steady neighborhood. We aren't trying to be a big department store; we just sell good, solid kitchenware. It is a simple trade that hasn't changed much over the years for our family.
