Ashoka Steel Centre

The shutters at A-103 in the Wazirpur industrial area usually go up by ten in the morning if the traffic isn't too bad. Ashoka Steel Centre is basically just a regular spot in a very busy part of Delhi where there is always something moving. It gets pretty loud here with all the trucks coming in and out of the Group Industrial Area. We have been in this same building for a long time now. Most of our days are spent checking on the stock and talking to the drivers who stop by. It’s not a polished setup with fancy chairs or anything like that. We just have our workspace and a small area for records. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint but we never seem to find the time for it. Usually, the tea guy comes around twice a day and that is when we take a short break. The summer months are tough because the heat inside the unit gets intense, even with the ceiling fans running at full speed. We just keep working through it. You get used to the smell of grease and the sound of metal hitting metal after a while. Most of the people around here are neighbors we’ve known for years. We don't do much in terms of showing off. We just handle the daily work as it comes and try to get home before the evening rush hour gets too crazy.
