Ascent Leather Accessories

Ascent Leather Accessories is over at T-179 Mode Basti on Rani Jhansi Road. If you come by, you’ll notice the strong smell of leather as soon as you turn the corner into our lane. The building is old, and the stairs up to our floor are a bit narrow and steep, but that is just how things are in this part of the city. We have several workbenches where people sit and work on small details with needles and cutters. There are scraps of brown and black leather all over the place, and we usually have to clear off a spot on the table just to have our lunch. Rani Jhansi Road is always buzzing with people and vehicles, so it never really gets quiet here until very late at night. The windows are usually kept open to let some air in, though that also brings in all the dust from the street. We have a few old sewing machines that have been serviced so many times they probably have their own stories to tell. It is a very hands-on kind of environment. We don't have any polished showrooms or air-conditioned offices, just a workshop where everyone knows their job and stays busy. Sometimes we misplace a tool and spend half the morning looking for it under the leather piles. It is just a normal, hardworking place where we do things the old-fashioned way.
