Sree Chitanya Mahavidyalaya

Our college is located right in Digha Das Para, over in the Duttapukur area of North 24 Parganas. It’s been part of this community for quite a long time now. If you come by, you’ll see students hanging around the gates or heading to class in the early mornings. It’s not a massive campus like you see in the city, but it serves the local kids well enough. We have different departments and the teachers here generally live nearby, so they know the families and the local culture. The buildings have seen a few monsoons, and we’re always trying to keep up with repairs and painting when the budget allows. It gets quite loud during the festival seasons or when there’s a local event going on nearby. We try to keep a decent library for the students because books are expensive and the internet isn't always reliable for everyone in this area. It’s a straightforward place. No big frills or shiny glass walls. Just classrooms, some wooden benches, and a lot of history in these walls. Most of the staff has been here for a decade or more, so we’ve seen a lot of students come through and go on to find work or move to the city for higher studies. Life here moves at its own pace. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just wait it out until it comes back. It’s just how things are in this part of Bengal. We focus on getting through the syllabus and holding exams.
