Debnarayan Shiksha Sansthan B Ed College

Debnarayan Shiksha Sansthan B Ed College is way out in South 24 Parganas, at Plot No 31 in Benebow. It's a bit of a journey to get here if you're coming from the main city area. We deal with people who want to become teachers in schools. The college building is simple and we have classrooms where the students spend most of their time. Since it’s a B.Ed college, there’s a lot of talk about lesson plans and how to manage a classroom full of children. We have a lot of paperwork to deal with, as you can imagine with any educational place in West Bengal. The J L No is 97, which is how people find us on the maps sometimes. The area around Benebow is quiet compared to Kolkata. You can hear the birds and see some trees from the windows. Our students come from the surrounding villages and towns. They are mostly young people trying to get their degrees so they can apply for government school jobs. We have a library that gets used quite a bit for research. It’s not a high-tech place, just a regular college where people study hard and prepare for their futures. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just open the windows and keep going with the lecture. We've been here for a while and the locals know the building well. It’s a place for learning, plain and simple. We focus on the syllabus and getting the exams done every year. We don't have fancy perks, just a place to study.
