Akarkvaerner Power Gas Ltd

We are way out on Station Road, number 95, in Rahara. It is a bit of a trek from the main part of Calcutta, but we like being out here in the 24 Parganas district. The office is right near the station, so we hear the trains going by all day long. It’s a busy place with a lot of engineering talk happening in the hallways. We deal with power and gas stuff, which means there are always technical drawings and safety manuals laying around on the tables. It is serious work, but we are just regular folks doing it. We don't have a big corporate cafeteria, so we usually just eat lunch at our desks or go to the small shops nearby. The building is an older one, with high ceilings and fans that click as they spin. We've got a lot of history in this area and many of us have lived nearby our whole lives. It’s not a flashy setup with glass walls or modern art. It’s just a place where we come to look at blueprints and figure out how to keep things running. We take the work seriously, but we talk to each other like neighbors. That's just the way it is here in West Bengal. Some days the humidity is thick, but the fans keep things moving while we focus on the complex details of the power projects. We stay until the light fades over the tracks.
