Valecha Engineering Ltd operates out of Siliguri up in West Bengal. You can find us at Banik Bhaban, which is Flat No. 2 on Sreema Sarani in Laketown. Being in Siliguri is interesting because we are right at the gateway to the hills, and the weather can be quite different from the rest of the state. We get a lot of rain here, especially during the monsoon, and sometimes the roads around Laketown get a bit messy. Our office is just a simple flat that we’ve converted into a working space for our engineering team. It’s not a big corporate building, but it works for what we need. We mostly focus on regional projects around North Bengal. The pace here is a little slower than Kolkata, but we still stay busy with the technical side of things. Most of us have been working together for a long time, so it’s a relaxed environment. We don’t have fancy uniforms or strict corporate rules; we just show up and do the work that’s on the table. Sometimes we have visitors from the head office, but usually, it’s just the local crew. The tea here is great, as you’d expect, and we usually have a pot going in the corner. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We handle the engineering drawings and the local coordination without much fuss or bother. It’s a good spot for us to get things done.
