Sumit Teleshop

Down in Sector 128, Sultanpur feels a bit different from the rest of the busy city. Sumit Teleshop is just a small corner where people from the village and the nearby offices drop in. I usually start the day by cleaning the display glass which always has fingerprints on it. It’s not a fancy showroom, just a place with a few stools and a lot of wires hanging around. We do a lot of recharges and sell those basic keypad phones that people like for their battery life. Sometimes someone comes in with a smart phone that has a completely shattered screen and they look so sad about it. We try to see if it can be fixed without spending too much. The heat can be quite bad in the summer, and the small fan we have doesn't do much, but we manage. Sultanpur is growing fast with all the new buildings, so we see a lot of new faces now. Still, the old regulars come by to ask about their balance or just to say hello. It's a quiet kind of work most of the time. We keep some cold water in a clay pot for anyone who is thirsty. Life here moves at its own pace and the shop is just our way of being part of it. We don't use big computers for everything, just some notebooks for the accounts. It stays simple and that is how we like it.
