I’ve got my shop, Shri Ram, over in Data Ram Market in Noida. It’s a lively place to be, especially in the evenings when everyone is out doing their shopping. The market is always full of energy. My shop isn’t very big, just enough space for me and a couple of people to stand inside at once. I’ve got some old wooden shelves that I built myself years ago. They aren't perfectly straight, but they hold everything I need. I spend a lot of my time just reorganizing things and talking to whoever walks in. It’s a lot of work keeping a small business going. I usually open up a bit late on Mondays because I like to have a slow morning at home first. The rest of the week, I’m here from ten until eight. The floor gets dirty pretty fast with all the foot traffic from the market, so I’m always sweeping. I have a small stove in the back where I make tea in the afternoons. Sometimes I share a cup with the guy who runs the hardware store across the way. We’ve been neighbors in the market for a long time. It’s a simple life, really. I don’t have any fancy plans for the place. I just want to keep the doors open and help the people who live around here. That’s enough for me. Most people in the market know me by now.
