Rakesh Jain

Rakesh Jain is the name on the door here at Curio Crafts, located at C-10-11 in Sector-57, Noida. We are right in the middle of Gautam Budh Nagar in UP. This place is basically a workshop and a storage area for all the craft items we deal with. There is always a smell of dust and maybe some polish or wood in the air. We have rows of shelves filled with different items that have been collected or made by hand. The floor is concrete and it gets quite cold in the winter months. We don't really have a showroom, so the items are just packed in boxes or sitting on the workbenches waiting for inspection. It is a hands-on kind of business. We spend the day checking the quality of the crafts and making sure the packing is done right so nothing breaks during transport. Sector-57 is a busy industrial kind of area, so there are always trucks moving around outside. We have a small office corner with a desk that usually has too many papers on it. Sometimes Rakesh is here and sometimes he is out meeting suppliers in other parts of the state. It is not a polished retail store; it is a working space where things get done. We have a couple of workers who have been with us for a long time and they know exactly where everything is kept. It is a bit disorganized to an outsider, but we have our own system.
