Hi Est Telecom

Out here in Dankaur, at the Kharli Bhaw spot in Gautam Budh Nagar, things are a bit slower than in the big city areas. Hi Est Telecom is a simple shop where we do a bit of everything related to phones. I spend my days mostly sitting near the front so I can catch the breeze. The shop is filled with various bits and pieces, like old batteries and rolls of tape. People come from the surrounding villages, often bringing in older model phones that they’ve had for years. They want them to keep working as long as possible. We do a lot of small repairs, like fixing a loose connection or replacing a keypad that has worn out. It’s a different kind of life here; you know almost everyone who walks through the door. We talk about the crops or the local news while I work on their devices. The shop isn't very modern, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it works for us. In the rainy season, the road outside gets muddy and we have to put down some cardboard so people don't slip. It’s just about being there for the community and making sure their phones stay connected. We close up when the sun goes down and the market starts to empty out. It's a steady life and we are happy with it. We just take things as they come.
