We are based at B 8 in the Kapil Housing Society, which is tucked away in Andheri West, Mumbai. It’s a bit unusual for some people that we work out of a housing society, but it works well for B V I Hr Practices. It keeps things grounded. You don't have that cold, sterile feeling you get in those massive office complexes. Instead, you have trees and people living their lives around you. Inside our unit, it’s all about the work. We deal with HR stuff, which means lots of paperwork and even more phone calls. Sometimes the place gets a bit cluttered with files, but we manage to find what we need. We don't have a big fancy sign outside or a lobby with a fountain. It’s just a door with our name on it. We spend a lot of time talking to people, trying to figure out where they fit best. It’s a lot of listening, really. We take our breaks in the common area sometimes, just to get a bit of fresh air. It’s a quiet life in a busy city. We don’t use any of those big buzzwords you hear in the corporate world. We just try to be fair and do the job properly. It’s a small group of us, and we like the personal feel of the office. It keeps us focused on the people we are dealing with every day instead of just staring at computer screens.
