Wonder Fashion India Private Limited is based out of House No 9139 in Gali Zahirwali. This is in the Nawab Ganj area, which is pretty old and has a lot of history. Working out of a house instead of a glass building makes things feel a bit more personal to us. We use the different rooms for different stages of the work. One room is strictly for storage, another for the actual fashion work, and the hallway usually has some boxes waiting to go out to the market. Gali Zahirwali is one of those places where everyone knows what’s going on with their neighbors. We see the same faces every morning when we open up. It’s not a quiet place by any means, but that’s fine because the noise of the street matches the pace inside. We don’t have fancy chairs or a big lunchroom for the staff. We just eat where we can and get right back to the fabric. Dealing with fashion in an area like Nawab Ganj means you have to be practical above everything else. We spend our time checking seams and looking at colors under the light by the front window. It’s a small operation but we stay busy throughout the year. Sometimes we have to stay late into the evening to finish a batch, but we don’t mind it much. It’s just how we earn our living, making things that people will eventually wear. We don’t make a big fuss about what we do, we just show up and do it.
