Venkat Pillai Design Studio

Venkat Pillai Design Studio is over at K-120 Abul Fazal Enclave in Jamia Nagar. It’s a busy part of Okhla. If you’ve ever been around here, you know how the streets are always full of people and rickshaws. Our studio is right in the middle of all that. We’ve been in this spot for a good while, and it’s become home for us. The space isn't huge, but we’ve managed to fit everything we need into it. We spend most of our time here working on drawings and talking over ideas. It’s not a corporate environment at all. It’s just a group of us trying to make things work. We don’t have a big front desk or a receptionist. Usually, if the door opens, one of us just looks up from a computer to say hello. There’s always someone making tea or coffee in the back. The neighborhood has a lot of energy, which is good for when we’re feeling a bit stuck. We handle the design side of things for various projects. Sometimes the deadlines get a bit tight and we stay late, listening to the sounds of the street outside. We aren't trying to be the biggest studio in Delhi. We just want to do a decent job for the people who hire us. It’s a simple operation, run by people who actually care about the work.
