Our office is up on the 15th floor of Statesman House. That is the big building at 148 Barakhamba Road, right in the center of the city. Being in the A Wing means we are quite high up, and you have to wait for the elevators which can be slow during the lunch hour when everyone is moving around. From up here in A1501, the view of New Delhi is pretty wide. You can see the traffic crawling along the roads below. The office itself is functional. We have the usual desks and computers, and the air conditioning is usually running because it gets stuffy otherwise. It’s a busy building with lots of different companies, so the hallways are always full of people in suits or carrying folders. We are just one of the many doors on this floor. It’s a bit different from being on a street-level shop because you don't hear the honking as much. But you do hear the hum of the building's systems all day. We try to keep things orderly, but there is always a stray coffee mug or a pile of notebooks on someone’s desk. It feels like a serious place because of the location, but we are just regular people working through our lists. The commute to Barakhamba is usually the most eventful part of our day. Once we are inside, it's just about getting to work and making sure everything is handled properly.
