Software Engineer

I am a software engineer working from the first floor of F-179 in Jiwan Nagar. This is in New Delhi-14, and it is a pretty typical neighborhood for this part of the city. My office is basically just one room in the building where I’ve set up my workstation. It’s usually a bit of a mess with cables, old keyboards, and notebooks scattered around. I don’t really bother with making it look professional because no one really comes here besides me. I spend most of my day-to-day life just typing away and trying to figure out why certain bits of code aren't doing what they are supposed to. New Delhi is always noisy, and Jiwan Nagar is no exception, so there is always a background hum of traffic and people outside my window. I’ve been doing this for several years now, taking on different software tasks as they come my way. I don't have a big marketing pitch or a polished way of talking about what I do. I just write code and try to make sure it works before I send it off. It is a lot of trial and error and sitting in the same chair for hours on end. Sometimes I go for a walk in the evening just to get away from the screen for a bit. It is a basic, honest way to make a living in the city, and I’m just one of many people here doing my own thing.
