Our place is right on Uttam Nagar Road, easy to spot if you look for Metro Pillar 698. It's a busy stretch of road, always noisy with the traffic and the metro passing by overhead. We’ve been at Plot No.4 for some time. The workshop floor is usually covered in stuff, tools lying around and machines running. It’s not the cleanest place, but it’s where the actual work happens. We start our day when the traffic is just beginning to pick up. My brother and a couple of others help out with the heavy lifting and the technical bits. We don't really have a front desk. If you come by, you’ll probably find one of us with grease on our hands or busy with a machine. It can get pretty loud in here, so we have to shout sometimes to hear each other. Being near the metro station means there are always people walking past. Sometimes they pop their head in to ask for directions or just to see what we're making. We don't mind. It's good to be part of the local scene here in Uttam Nagar. We don’t do much advertising. Most people find us because they live nearby or someone told them where we are. We keep things straightforward. If we can do the job, we say so. The walls are painted an old shade of blue that's peeling in the corners, but we haven't found the time to fix it. We care more about whether the tools are sharp. On rainy days, the sound on the metal roof is so loud we can hardly talk.
