Dinesh Plastic Works

The workshop at Dinesh Plastic Works is located right in the middle of Chuna Mandi in Paharganj. If you know this part of Delhi, you know how crowded it gets with the narrow lanes and the rickshaws always blocking the way near No- 2146/1. We spend most of our days here surrounded by plastic molds and the hum of the machines that never really seem to stop. It gets hot, especially in the summer months when the fans just push the warm air around the floor. There is usually a pile of raw materials sitting near the entrance because space is tight and we have to move things around constantly to get anything done. Most of us have been working here for years and we know exactly where every tool is kept even if it looks like a mess to someone walking in from the street. It’s not a fancy place by any means. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the floor is stained from years of production, but it’s where we do our thing every day. We handle a lot of different plastic jobs and the noise of the cutters is just part of the background music for us now. Sometimes the power goes out and everything goes quiet for a bit, which is actually a nice break before the generator kicks in. We just keep at it, making sure the orders are ready for the people who come by.
