Saini Plywood House

If you ever walk through Wazir Nagar, you might have seen Saini Plywood House. We’re tucked into 1514/3, right in the heart of Kotla Mubarakpur. It’s a crowded area, so getting a delivery truck in here can be a bit of a puzzle sometimes. The shop smells like sawdust and old wood mostly. We spend a lot of our time moving heavy sheets of plywood around so people can see what they are buying. It's not a big showroom with bright lights. It’s more of a practical place where people from the neighborhood come when they’re fixing up a kitchen or making a new cupboard. The floor is usually covered in little bits of wood shavings. We have been here in Kotla Mubarakpur for a good while, so we know most of the people walking past the door. Sometimes it gets really hectic when three people want different sizes at once and the space is tight. You just have to be patient. We keep the ledger on a small wooden desk that’s probably seen better days. It’s a simple business. We open up early, sweep the front, and start stacking things up for the day. There’s no big secret to how we work. We just show up and handle the wood. It's what my family has always done around here in Wazir Nagar. We deal with the splinters and the heavy lifting, and that’s about it for our day.
