You can find us in the basement at 45-47 in Connaught Place. Being in CP is interesting because you see all kinds of people every day. It’s the center of New Delhi, so there is always a crowd upstairs on the pavement. Down in the basement, it stays a bit cooler and quieter, which is good for when we are looking at diamonds. The space is simple. We have our workbenches and some chairs for when people come to visit. It’s not the biggest shop in the world, but we make it work. We spend a lot of time under the lamps checking how clear the stones are. It’s tedious work sometimes, but we’ve been doing it long enough that it’s just second nature now. We don't put on any acts here. If the coffee is bad that day, we say so. We handle the sales and the sourcing ourselves without much help from outside. Sometimes the lights flicker a bit because it’s an old building, but we just keep going. It’s a 110001 address, which we are proud of even if the rent is high. We like being in the heart of the city where everything is accessible. At the end of the day, we pack everything up and head to the metro. It’s a busy life, but it’s ours and we wouldn't change the way we do things or move to a more modern spot just for show.
