M. K. Leathers

We are based out of Plot No. 86 in Sector-24 of Rohini. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the main city, but we stay busy with the leather work. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the smell of the hides. It’s a strong scent, but we’ve grown to like it over time. We handle different types of leather here, mostly cutting and prepping pieces for whatever they need to become. The shop isn't fancy at all. We have heavy workbenches and old tools that have been around for ages. Sometimes the floor gets messy with scraps, but we sweep up at the end of the day. It’s just a small team of us working here in Pocket-22. We spend a lot of time checking the skins for marks or holes. Leather is a tricky material to work with because every piece is different. We don't use big automated machines for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand. It’s slow work sometimes. We get deliveries of raw materials every week and then we have to sort through it all. People in the neighborhood know us as the leather guys. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything. We just show up, do the cutting and the finishing, and try to make sure nothing goes to waste. It's hard work on the hands but it's what we do. We don't worry about being perfect, just about getting the pieces cut right for our clients.
