Randhir Kumar Singh

Working near the Delhi High Court on Tilak Marg means you are always in the middle of a lot of movement. I’m Randhir Kumar Singh, and this is where I spend most of my waking hours. The street is always lined with cars and people in black coats rushing from one building to another. My office is tucked away in a spot that gets a lot of that foot traffic. It’s a small space, mostly filled with stacks of papers and old law books that I’ve collected over the years. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but I never seem to find the time to get it done. It’s a bit noisy here because of the proximity to the main road, but you get used to the sound of the horns and the shouting after a week or two. I usually have a few people waiting outside on the benches, especially during the court hours. We don’t have much in the way of fancy furniture, just some sturdy chairs and a large wooden desk that’s been with me since I started. The heat in Delhi can be quite something in the middle of the year, so the old air conditioner stays running almost all day, even if it rattles a bit. It’s a practical place for practical work. I don't really go for anything flashy. Most people who come here are just looking for a bit of help with their documents.
