You can find us at C 6 on Baba Kharak Singh Marg. This is the Phulkari Punjab Govt. Emporium, and we’ve been at this location for a long time. It’s a busy street with lots of people walking by all the time. We stock a lot of traditional items from Punjab. It’s not like a modern shopping mall here. It feels more old-fashioned and a bit slow-paced, which some people seem to like. The shelves are packed with fabrics and things that come from different craftsmen. Sometimes the lights are a bit dim in the corners, but we know where everything is kept. We’re government-run, so there is a certain way we have to do things, lots of forms and specific procedures to follow. We aren’t here to give you a sales pitch. We just show you what’s available on the racks today. Some days are quiet and we just sit and talk amongst ourselves until a customer walks in. We enjoy seeing people’s reactions to the colors and patterns. It’s a steady job and we take pride in being part of this emporium for the state. If you are looking for something specific, we might have it in the back, but you have to ask. We’ve been here so long that we’ve become a part of the daily rhythm of the street and the neighborhood.
