You can find us at W-18 in the Okhla Industrial Area. It’s an old building, but it works for what we do. The sound of sewing machines is pretty much constant from eight in the morning until we close up at night. We make garments, mostly basic stuff, and we’ve been doing it here for quite a while. Okhla is always loud and there’s always someone moving fabric or loading a van outside. We have a lot of tables for cutting and rows of machines for the stitching. The light in the back isn't the best, so we use extra lamps on the desks. We aren't trying to be a high-fashion brand; we just focus on getting the stitching straight and the sizes right. Sometimes we run out of a specific thread and someone has to run out and find it. It's a bit chaotic during the busy season when the big orders come in, but we usually get through it. Our lunch breaks are short, usually just sitting around the main table talking about the news. It’s hard work on the back, standing and leaning over the fabric all day. We just try to keep things moving and make sure the workers are happy. It is a straightforward business, no frills or extras. We just keep our heads down and get the sewing done. The floor is usually covered in thread by the end of the day.
