Sachi Leather

You can find us at No. 4591 in Gali Dal Mandi, Paharganj. If you walk down the narrow lane, you will smell the leather before you see the shop. Sachi Leather is a small place. We make bags, belts, and some jackets too. Paharganj is a very old and crowded part of Delhi. There are backpackers and cows and rickshaws all over the place. Our shop is tiny but it is full of leather sheets. We have brown, black, and some tan ones. I sit on a low stool most of the day cutting the leather with a sharp knife. My hands are always stained with dye. We don't use big machines for everything. A lot of it is done by hand with a needle and thick thread. It makes the products tough. People come here because they want something that lasts. We don't have fancy packaging. We just wrap it in old newspaper or a simple plastic bag. The shop gets very dark in the back so we have a single bulb hanging over the work area. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the door, so we have to move the stock. It’s an old building. We’ve been here for many years. We don't do any online selling. If you want something, you have to come to Gali Dal Mandi and find us. It is hard work but it pays the bills.
