Working out of Shop No. 1/2 at 185 K/3 Karan Palace has its ups and downs. The shop is tucked into a corner, so we don't get that much direct sunlight, which keeps it a bit cooler in the summer months. We mostly sell socks and basic footwear. The shelves are made of wood and some of them have started to sag a bit over the years because we stack so many heavy boxes on them. Every morning starts with a quick sweep and then we wait for the first delivery truck to arrive. The traffic around the palace can get really bad around five in the evening, so we usually try to get our stock movements done early in the morning before it gets too crazy. It's just a small team of us here. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing department. We just answer the phone when it rings and try to keep the inventory straight. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour or two, so we just sit on the stools and talk until it comes back on. We've been at this address for quite a while now and most of the other shopkeepers nearby are like family to us. We share tea and complain about the rain when the roof leaks a little. It isn't a high-tech operation, just a regular shop where we do our work and go home. People know they can find us here from Monday to Saturday without fail.
