Our office is actually over in Badarpur at House No. 73, Gali No. 1, Molarband Extension. It might say Noida in the name, but this is where we do the actual day-to-day work. It is a regular house that we’ve turned into a workspace, so it feels very much like a home. There are files stacked on desks and rolls of blueprints leaning against the corners of the rooms. We are usually busy with planning or talking to people about various building projects. The street outside is narrow, typical of a gali in this part of New Delhi, and it can be a bit of a squeeze if two cars try to pass each other. We spend our hours on the phone or meeting with contractors who drop by to discuss materials and timelines. It’s not a shiny corporate tower with an elevator. You just walk in off the street. We’ve got a small kitchen where someone is almost always making tea. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed even when we are nearing a deadline. We deal with a lot of paperwork and permissions, which takes up more time than you’d think. It’s a practical place for people who are more interested in construction than in sitting in a fancy boardroom. We just keep our heads down and focus on the projects we have going on. The windows look out onto the neighborhood, so we see all the local life while we work on our plans.
