Mohinder Kumar Sharma

Down at Patiala House Courts Main Road 153, things are always moving and shaking. Mohinder Kumar Sharma has been based here for a while now. The court area is always full of people in a hurry and it feels like the energy never really stops until late in the evening. Our office is tucked in there among all the others on the busy road. It’s not a quiet place by any means. You can hear the lawyers and the families and the street vendors all day long. My desk is covered in folders and loose sheets of paper that I have to go through. It’s a lot of reading and writing. Sometimes I wonder how so much paper can exist in one small room without it falling over. The light in here is a bit dim because the buildings are so close together. I have a small lamp that stays on all day. Neighbors stop in to borrow a stapler or just to complain about the heat. It’s a friendly enough spot if you don't mind the clutter. We have a ceiling fan that wobbles a little but it keeps the air moving. Every morning I unlock the door and start by tidying up a few things from the day before. Then the first person walks in and the day starts all over again. It’s just the way it goes here at 153. It is a steady life.
