Mi Embroidery

Our shop, Mi Embroidery, is tucked away at No. 156 Gali No. 6 in Batla House. If you have ever been to Jamia Nagar, you know how narrow the lanes can get. Gali No. 6 is always full of people, bikes, and sometimes a stray cat or two lounging in the shade. Inside, the noise of the machines is pretty constant. It is a rhythmic sound that we have all gotten used to over the years. We don't have a big corporate office; it is more like a workshop where every inch of space is used for thread or fabric. The light in the back is a bit dim, so we usually have the overhead lamps on even during the day. Sometimes the delivery guys have a hard time finding the exact door because the numbers on this street are a bit jumbled. We just tell them to look for the place with the blue door near the corner. It gets very hot in the summer months, so we keep the fans going at full speed. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to get the orders finished and out the door so we can go home to our families at night. Working in Batla House means there is always good food nearby, which is a nice bonus when we have to stay late to finish a big batch.
