Rabani And Rakha

Working here at Kila 87 near the Qutub Minar is interesting because of all the history around us. We are on the ground floor of the old steel mill building, specifically at 3 C 4a Kalka Das Marg. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a business like Rabani And Rakha, but it works for us. The ceilings are high and the walls are thick, which helps keep it cool when the sun is hitting Mehroli hard. You can see the top of the Minar if you walk just a little way down the road. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of tables and racks. We have a lot of samples hanging up, some old and some new. The floor is concrete and has some cracks in it, but we don't mind. There’s always a bit of dust because of the old building, so we spend the first part of every day dusting everything off. The street outside, Kalka Das Marg, is often full of tourists and locals going to the park. We don't have a flashy entrance. It’s just a plain door that leads into our workspace. We spend most of our hours sketching things out or checking the embroidery. It’s a lot of sitting and looking at small details. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a lot to finish. It’s a steady kind of life, working in such an old part of the city.
