A. B. C. Leathers

Down in Mayapuri Phase I, you can find us at B/65. That’s where A. B. C. Leathers operates. The industrial area is always full of trucks and people moving things around. Our unit smells like raw leather and polish, which is something you get used to after the first week. We spend a lot of time cutting hides and making sure the pieces fit together right. It’s tough work on the hands, and the tools are heavy. We have a small crew that knows their way around a hide. The floor is usually covered in scraps of leather by noon. We sweep it up and start again. It’s not a fancy setup at all, just some sturdy benches and old machines that still run well. Sometimes the heat in the workshop gets intense, so we keep the fans going at full speed. We don't really have a front office, so visitors usually just walk straight into the work area. We’ve been at this location for a while now and know the other shop owners nearby. We help each other out with tools or loading stuff when needed. It’s a community of makers here. We focus on getting the orders out without too much fuss. There is no complicated process, just cutting, stitching, and finishing. That is how we spend our hours every week.
