Shan Cap House

You can find us at Shop No. 5 in the Maulana Rehmatullah Apartment, which is building number 172. Shan Cap House is located in the Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin area, very close to the Quresh Masjid and the local post office. This part of the city is always full of life and very crowded, especially during prayer times when people are coming and going from the masjid. Our shop is quite small and the walls are covered from top to bottom with all kinds of caps. We spend most of our time talking to locals and visitors who stop in while they are walking through the narrow lanes. The sound of the traffic and the calls to prayer are a constant part of our workday. It can get very hot in the summer because the old buildings don't always have the best airflow, but we have a small ceiling fan that helps a bit. We’ve been here for many years and have seen the neighborhood change a lot, but our little corner remains pretty much the same. The lanes outside are so thin that cars can’t really come through, so it’s mostly people walking and the occasional motorcycle. We don't have any fancy marketing or big banners. We just open the shutters every morning and wait for the regulars to drop by for a chat. It is a humble place but we like it here.
