You can find us at A-3 in the lower ground floor at Lajpat Nagar-i. It is a bit tucked away, so you have to look for the entrance. Being in Lajpat Nagar means it is always crowded outside with shoppers and traffic, but down here in the basement at Zenith Fabrics India, it is a bit more focused. We have shelves reaching all the way to the top filled with different types of cloth. Some of it has been there for a while, and some moves out as soon as it arrives. We do not have a big staff, just a few of us who know the inventory by heart. People come in looking for specific textures or colors, and we spend a lot of time unrolling fabric to show them. The air can get a bit dusty from all the fibers, but we are used to it. We use an old desk for the billing and most of our records are kept in simple ledgers. It is a very hands-on job. We do not spend money on advertising because people usually find us through friends or by wandering into the lane. It is a practical space. We drink a lot of chai during the day while we wait for deliveries or help customers. It is not a shiny showroom, just a basement full of fabrics where we work every day except for the holidays.
