Khandelwal Consultants is way up on the seventh floor of Somdutt Chamber-II. Room 705 is where we do everything. Being high up in Bhikaji Cama Place gives us a bit of a view, though it’s mostly just more rooftops and the Delhi haze. The office feels lived in. There are piles of documents on almost every surface. We aren't the type of company that spends a lot on interior design. We have what we need to get the job done. The lift in this building is usually busy, so we have to plan ahead if we’re going down for a break. We handle all sorts of consulting matters for the people who seek us out. It’s a lot of reading and writing and checking figures. Sometimes we stay late when there is a big project due. It gets quiet in the building after six, which is actually the best time to work. We have a small area for files and a couple of computers that are always running. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but no one really cares about that. We are more interested in getting the details right for our clients. We’ve been in this area of New Delhi for a long time and we know how things work here. It’s a practical setup for a small team of consultants. We just try to keep our heads down and do the work.
